The Myths of education in Lima Senior High School

IT'S A TRUE STORY OF SURVIVAL

This website will describe the meaning behind the Myths of Education and Empowerment in Lima Senior High School.
To understand the Myths of Education and Empowerment, information about the subject is needed. School is supposed to help students become mature in professional environments and to show them how to be a better version of their past selves.

"Thomas Jefferson saw school as a training ground for citizenship and democratic leadership." (Rereading America 110). Although school is expected to assist students in being a leader, numerous follow after the bad influences of their lives. Lima Senior has a lot of students who have great potential to become better, however, a few restrain themselves from that opportunity.

One team of students from Mrs. Herrons ENGL 104 College class, went around the school collecting data of students who put their education in jeopardy.

The team made up of Kaniyah, Mike, and Dakota, expected the results to be outrageously large. Considering that their school has a lot of students who mess around rather than do their work, the number is anticipated to be high. Going around the school to different staff to collect information about absences, tardies, and the number of students being sent to ISIP, they came to the conclusion that their hypothesis was in fact correct.

More than one hundred students are tardy every day to school given that there are one thousand students currently enrolled in Lima Senior. The team of three students interviewed six staff members in the building. The main point that the staff members pointed out was skipping. Fifty or more skip classes every day even with the drastic measures they take to stop it.

It's such a major problem that all the staff made a focal point for it. "School trains children to be employees and consumers." (Rereading America "Against School" 121). Students can learn to be if successful if they decide to come to class. If the school doesn't propose a new plan to stop skipping, then students will never get the education that they need to go to college.

Against School in Rereading America greatly targets that specific subject. Teachers often get bored with their job that the boredom carries onto the students. If that keeps happening it'll trigger more students to skip sessions in order to have entertainment. A good plan that schools should enforce is sending the students home instead of putting them in detention or ISIP.
